Suhee Initiative
Promoting Pyaar for Gurbani within the Sikh Youth

Why This Conference?
We’ve witnessed a growing need for dedicated spaces where Kaurs can be seen, heard, empowered, and celebrated, particularly within the California diaspora. For far too long, Kaurs have faced invalidation—our voices often overlooked or misunderstood. The struggles unique to Kaurs are often left unrecognized, and this silence has perpetuated a cycle that must end.
As a community, it’s time for us to uplift and support the mothers, sisters, and daughters of the Panth. This conference is not just an event; it’s a call to action. We believe that every Kaur deserves a space to thrive, share their experiences, and have their voices amplify the collective power of our community.
With this mission in mind, Suhee Initiative is honored to host the first Kaurs-Only Conference in the United States at the University of California, Berkeley. Together, we will create a space where Kaurs can come together, empower each other, and build a future where our voices are no longer marginalized, but celebrated.

Conference Logistics

We are excited to host the upcoming conference at UC Berkeley, a prestigious university with a rich history of supporting the Sikh diaspora and fostering academic excellence. This location was carefully chosen for its historical significance and welcoming accommodations.
Please note that specific details regarding venue information will be finalized and sent to you via email as the conference approaches. While most events will take place in one area of the campus, it’s important to be aware that UC Berkeley is a hilly campus, especially if you plan to explore or tour the area during your visit.
For those traveling by car, parking accommodations will also be available, and detailed information will be sent via email closer to the event.

As our conference will be a full-day event packed with engaging sessions and activities, it's crucial that all attendees arrive on time for check-in. To ensure we can start promptly and provide the best experience for everyone, we highly recommend arriving at least one hour prior to the scheduled start time. This will allow us to check you in smoothly and make sure you're fully prepared for the day's events.
Your punctuality will help ensure that we can stick to the schedule and maximize the value of this exciting, action-packed day!

This conference is open to all women who identify as Kaur, aged 16 and above. The event will focus largely on Sikhi and the Sikh Panth, but we welcome with open arms and encourage all Kaurs to attend, regardless of their level of familiarity with Sikhi.
The topics covered at this event are designed for a more mature audience. That being said, if a Kaur under the age limit is interested in attending, they are welcome to do so as long as they have reached out to us in advance and are accompanied by a Kaur guardian. Please reach out to us at suheeinitative@gmail.com if you are interested in this option.

This conference will feature inspirational and impactful Kaur speakers who will lead workshops, discussions, and panels on topics ranging from panthic advocacy to personal growth and collective healing.
